EBS Ecology undertook a baseline flora and fauna assessment at a site south-west of Kingoonya and near the border of Yellabinna Regional Reserve.
The survey offered staff the opportunity to explore some beautiful Mallee and Black Oak scrub and observe on the way into the site, a number of Southern Hairy-nosed Wombats Lasiorhinus latifrons.
This species occurs in several regions across the state, predominantly the Nullarbor, Eyre Peninsula, Gawler Ranges, Murraylands and Yorke Peninsula. On this trip, wombats were often observed outside of their burrows during the day, providing excellent photo opportunities (like the one featured below).
